HONORS ONLY - We'll be reading two rounds of lit circle books, so as we finish the first round of books, please start working on getting another copy-- particularly if you aren't going the Kindle route. If other students read your book, check in with them to see if you can borrow theirs or swap so we have to buy/rent fewer books. I also have a few copies if you can't find one from a peer or the library. -----------------Book 2 -------------- Please have a copy by 11/9--------------------------- First reading assigned on 11/12 and our first reading will be due 11/16--------------- *Also note: Chasing Lincoln's Killer and Killer Angels are fairly violent with some gruesome descriptions. Please make sure that you are ready for it and speak with your parents to make sure it's the right book for you. I really don't want you to be upset by the descriptions, so let me know if you'd like to swap to another group. It's really not a problem if it's done by November 9th.

Congratulations to all of our 7th and 8th grade Super Spartans for quarter 1. You epitomize what it means to be a Spartan every day by being responsible, hard working, and kind. We hope you enjoyed the pizza party we threw in your honor. We're still looking for stellar students to invite to our Q2, Q3, and Q4 luncheons so keep being awesome!
We've seen the number of R/R detentions rise over the last few weeks, and often the detentions are issued for only 1-2 negatives. Please remember the easy sources of positives.
1 positive every Monday - for ending the prior week with a positive balance 1 positive every Monday - for having the prior week's agenda filled out when your ILS teacher does a check 1 positive every week - if you have no missing assignments in any class That's three positives a week just for doing what you should be doing. Nothing above and beyond! If you get those three positives every week, you can get a negative or two while avoiding detention. Let's make the second quarter amazing! December 6th, we'll be heading down to Phoenix to see the Phoenix Art Museum and the Arizona Science Center. We'll spend the morning interacting with historical art then we'll eat a catered lunch at the science museum, learn about science by experiencing the hands-on exhibits, and end the day with a private exhibition in the planetarium. The $20 fee includes transportation to/from Phoenix, admission into both museums, a catered lunch (pizza, veggies, and lemonade-- other food provided for students with food preferences and allergies), and tickets to the planetarium-- a $50 value, but you must do your part by having: 1) no more than 20 negatives for the semester as of eligibility checks on 12/3 2) no Fs and/or no more than one D in any class as of eligibility checks on 12/3 3) a signed permission slip (preferably in by 10/19) 4) the fee paid to your homeroom teacher (also preferably by 10/19) Note - if you will have issues paying the $20, please contact your homeroom teacher. There are a few scholarship opportunities available courtesy of Findlay Auto Group that will pay for the entire $20
